WHAT IS CARBON BLACK???
What is carbon black? Carbon black is a material produced by incomplete combustion of heavy petroleum products such as FCC (liquid catalytic cracking) resin, coal tar, ethylene cracking resin, and in a small amount of vegetable oil. Carbon black is a form of amorphous carbon having a large surface-to-volume ratio, although its surface area to volume ratio is low compared to that of activated carbon. Carbon black works as a colorant and reinforcement in rubber and plastic products.
APPLICATION OF CARBON BLACK
Carbon Black is extensively used as pigments and car tires phase reinforcement. Carbon Black also releases heat from the tire’s groove and wheel, which reduces damage and increases tire duration.
Selected for industrial rubber products such as tires, tubes, and shock absorbers, Carbon Black earns a reputation in reinforcing rubber products thanks to its low viscosity and expense-efficiency.
Black charcoal, when combined with polypropylene will absorb purple light, which is used as pigments in the manufacture of paints, plastics and printing inks.
Carbon Black’s high color fastness and stability are also exploited in order to color plastics and films. Plus, it also has been used in various applications for electronics. As a good electrical conductor, carbon black is used as mixing fillers in resin, elastomers, films, adhesives and paints. It is also used as an antistatic additive in cars fuel pipes and caps.
